Jabra BT8030 Bluetooth Headphones-Speaker Review
PDF Print E-mail

Wiredforwireless.com, March 24, 2008

Jabra BT8030 Bluetooth Headphones-Speaker

Ingenious Concept

This hybrid Bluetooth speaker/headphones/speakerphone lets you stay in control of your music and phones calls, no matter where you are. By pressing 2 buttons, you easily transition to speaker mode.

The unit has a high-quality look and feel. Weighing in at 11 oz (320g), the weight is well distributed so that the unit does not shift of flop around.

The buttons on the left side are dedicated to conversation, the ones on the right, to music. As long as your audio source supports the Audio Video Remote Control Profile(AVRCP), you have total control of your music player. AVRCP includes play, pause, stop, change track and more, depending on the source specifications.

Sound: In headphones mode, the Jabra BT8030 has excellent sound quality. When you switch to speaker mode, the quality is still good, but not as rich as in headphones mode.

Pairing: Whether it is with your Bluetooth-enabled audio player or your cell phone, it is extremely simple to pair. We paired it with a Motorola V557 and it worked flawlessly. Conversation was clear up to 30ft, as claimed by the manufacturer.

Cool Stuff:

Includes a USB connection that can be used to upgrade your firmware, or listen to your computer’s music collection if you don't have a Bluetooth A2DP adapter.

The unit charges quickly and comes with a black vinyl pouch that makes it easy to carry wherever you go.

Areas of Concern:

The adjustable headband fits comfortably but can create a little pressure on your ears if you have a large head.

We found that the well-integrated design makes if difficult to access buttons.

Until you get used to it, you will find you accidentally turn the unit off when you are trying to change the volume or change to the previous track rather than going to the next. Practice makes perfect!
